Why we won't review a game until we finish it
Plenty of sites post a verdict the day a game launches. We don't, and I want to explain why, because it's the single biggest thing that shapes how Slate Hub works.
Mobile games are especially sneaky about their first hour. The tutorial is polished, the early rewards come fast, and everything feels generous. Then you hit hour five and the real shape of the game shows up — the grind, the repetition, or sometimes a surprising second wind that makes the whole thing worth it.
If we reviewed on first impressions, we'd be lying to you half the time. So instead someone on the team lives with a game until they've seen its quiet stretches and not just its fireworks. That's slower, and it means we cover fewer titles, but every review reflects what the game is actually like weeks in.
It also keeps us honest about performance. A game that runs cool for ten minutes might turn your phone into a hand-warmer after an hour. You only learn that by staying.
